Cries of Liberty To Slaughter
The holocaust in the land of the free and home of the brave has been the murder of babies in the womb over multiple decades. Cries from the victims are not heard in our streets. Their voices never echo across the landscape into our ears. For they are a silent people unborn in the womb being the most vulnerable of all human life. A mother’s womb is supposed to be a sanctuary for the growth and protection of a young child. Instead, it is now the killing ground of our day in which millions have tortuously lost their lives. Our country, founded on such principles as the dignity of humanity made by the Creator God now has many crying for the “right of liberty” to murder the most innocent among them.
Voters in Michigan together supported a measure that grants a “constitutional right to reproductive freedom, including abortion and contraception.”1 Across the way in Vermont and California voters overwhelmingly decided to support the enshrinement of “abortion rights” in their constitutions.2 Perhaps the most pointed statement on the issue came from the battleground of Kentucky. Elisabeth Smith, the director of state policy and advocacy for the Center of Reproductive rights said:
“I think what we see are that Americans across the political spectrum understand abortion to be a liberty issue, and a freedom issue.”3
This comment brings us to the centerpiece of the issue surrounding abortion. Advocates of this reprehensible stench permeating our land view it as a “liberty” humanity has to murder innocent life. This is why the holocaust continues to march forward. Modern America no longer wants liberty under God as defined by Him, it desires the ability to do whatever they please. Which naturally brings up the issue of the divergent nature of these visions.
Grounds For Liberty and Freedom
Asserting that human beings have a “right” to murder others is not freedom but the height of tyranny and enslavement. Welcome back to the ages of darkness. See those ushering in a new era of paganism where we lay our children on the altar of the gods! Human beings do not have inherit dignity and worth in such a view, one person can wickedly take the life of another. We are going to label this as a hallmark of “freedom” and a right of “liberty” to ease our consciences numbing ourselves on the sedative of seductive language. These ideas would take us backward in history to the days when children were preyed upon, women were brutalized, and only a few elites had freedom. Such were the days when the strong could inherently terrorize the weak simply on the basis of their power.
As opposed to these views, biblical Christianity upholds the notion that every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Human life is sacred before Him as evidenced by the very doctrine that God Himself entered this world through the womb of a woman via the virgin birth and lived as the God-man. Therefore, anyone who murders another forfeits His own life as the just standard of God’s Word (Genesis 9:6). Freedom does not stem from immorality. Instead, only a people dedicated to living righteously before God will have freedom. One of our founding fathers Patrick Henry stated:
“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is impossible that a nation of infidels or idolaters should be a nation of free-men. It is when a people forget God, that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom.” -Patrick Henry
Those promoting such evil as the notion we are “free” to murder our children shall lead the charge toward the enslavement of the entire population. Make no mistake, the foundational moral compass of this nation has historically been Christianity. In 1892 during the case of Holy Trinity v. United States, the Supreme Court said:
“If we pass beyond these matters to a view of American life, as expressed by its laws, its business, its customs, and its society, we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth. Among other matters note the following: The form of oath universally prevailing, concluding with an appeal to the Almighty; the custom of opening sessions of all deliberative bodies and most conventions with prayer; the prefatory words of all wills, ‘In the name of God, amen;’ the laws respecting the observance of the Sabbath, with the general cessation of all secular business, and the closing of courts, legislatures, and other similar public assemblies on that day; the churches and church organizations which abound in every city, town, and hamlet; the multitude of charitable organizations existing every where under Christian auspices; the gigantic missionary associations, with general support, and aiming to establish Christian missions in every quarter of the globe. These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.”4
Christianity permeated the history of America providing its foundation for law, morality, and all of life. If we are to abolish abortion and secure the freedoms of our land, we must return to the very thing upon which we were founded!
A Vision For The Future
Today, the American people have largely cast aside God and the standards of His Holy Word. In so doing, they reject the only true foundation for liberty and freedom. Proverbs 29:18 says:
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” -Proverbs 29:18
Clearly, this verse teaches the foundational reality that where people reject the revelation of God there is no restraint upon their evil. Contrastingly, those who keep the law/commandments of God will be blessed. What we as believers must do is preach the Gospel of Christ and declare His standards of righteousness. There must be regeneration by the power of the Gospel if we are to see a transformation in this country. We must declare to all that they are commanded to repent before the King Jesus Christ (Acts 17:30). Nations and kings who reject Christ the King will suffer His wrath of destruction (Psalm 2). Freedom and liberty are not found in slaying innocent blood. You will only find true freedom and liberty when you come to the One whose blood was spilled so that we might be saved. America must come to Christ, repent, and live in obedience to His commands if she is to be free. Christian freedom or secular murder and chaos is the contrast of the day!
