What Is Pride Month?
Few, if any individuals fail to recognize this modern concept of “Pride month.” During the month of June, the LGBTQ movement celebrates the Stonewall riots which is viewed as a tipping point in the movement.1 According to the Library of Congress, “The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.”2 Within this period of time you will see rainbow flags everywhere. Social media will be abuzz with the #Pride frequently occurring. Of course the media activists and radical left will all jump on the bandwagon as well.
The bottom line principle that we must ask is what are we to think about Pride month? Lest you think it is only the Left who celebrates this month, let me remind you that President Trump also tweeted out in support of LGBTQ individuals during Pride Month a couple of years ago.3 Truthfully, if you don’t buy into this agenda you will get attacked not only by the left but also by some, certainly not all, conservatives. So, how should we react to this month of celebrating the LGBTQ movement?
Pride Month Celebrates Rebellion
It is important to note that the LGBTQ movement is born out of rebellion against God. The Bible is clear from the outset that marriage is between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24). There is no such institution as gay marriage. Governmental officials can give out gay marriage certificates to their heart’s desire, but the institution of marriage was created by God not the government. Since God’s definition of marriage is one man and one woman it is nonsensical to believe that gay marriage even exists. The same aspect is true of lesbianism. You can engage in gay or lesbian activity as a sinful act of rebellion against God, but you cannot have a legitimate marriage in the eyes of God as a homosexual or lesbian. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says this:
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
-1 Corinthians 6:9-11
The Bible is clear that homosexuality is not compatible with Christianity. When considering the topic of transgenderism it is the same in terms of being opposed to biblical Christianity. It is imperative to note that God created male and female, as stated earlier. Two genders exist, not three hundred, not thirty, not three, there are only two genders. You cannot change your gender. At the end of the day the chromosome will stay say XX or XY and you cannot change that fact. God created you as either male or female and you cannot change His design.
The Hatefulness of Not Going Along
One of the impacts of not joining arms with the LGBTQ woke revolution is that you end up being deemed a “hater.” You are said to have engaged in “hate speech” for speaking out about this issue. Is it hateful to warn sinners that they are on their way to hell lest they repent and flee to Christ? Why should it be considered hateful to declare the glorious truth of eternal life for all who will repent and place their faith in Jesus Christ? How could it possibly be considered hateful to show sinners they are living in open rebellion against God and have rejected His righteous ways? Taking this step is not the epitome of hate but of love. It is love of God, love of neighbor, and love of truth which compels the Christian to declare what God has said in His Word to the LGBTQ individuals or any other sinner for that matter.
In the end, we must see Pride Day as the Tower of Babel of our own day. It is the effort of mankind to raise their fists toward God in sinful abomination. Christians must reject it and proclaim the truth of God. As 2 Corinthians 10 states our goal is to destroy every stronghold raised up against Christ. We take this action so that those held captive by the lies of the world might be set free and run in the truth of Christ. Consequently, Pride Month is a sign of hate against God and man, not a season of love. It is full hateful exclusion if you dissent, not a moment of inclusion. This month demonstrates the truth of a culture under judgment and not one being given the blessing of God. Christians must unwaveringly declare the truth on this issue if we are to be faithful to our Lord!
